2016 Audi Q7 launched for Rs 72 Lakhs in India

Audi India has just launched its flagship 2016 Audi Q7 SUV in India, which happens to be the second generation of the famous SUV. The new Audi Q7 is launched in two variants - Q7 premium plus is priced at Rs 72 Lakhs and Q7 Technology priced at Rs 77.5 Lakhs, both ex-showroom Delhi. While the SUV will be sold as a CBU in the country, interestingly, its price is lower than the outgoing model.

In terms of the design, the basic silhouette of the car remains the same with minor tweaks here and there. Take for example the Audi's new signature Matrix LED headlamps in the front featuring striking double arrow graphics and a single frame Audi Grille. The 20-inch alloy wheels with intense wheel arches and solid shoulder line outlines the side profile. While at the rear there's a powered boot door and new LED tail lights.

The new Q7 comes with a variety of changes inside the cabin as opposed to the exteriors. There's an all-new MMI infotainment system navigated via MMI Touch, Bose 3D sound system with 19 speakers, four-zone climate control, Audi music interface with two USB ports and a Bluetooth interface. Like the new TT, the Q7 gets a 12.3-inch 1440×540 pixel Audi Virtual Cockpit screen.

As for the mechanicals, the new Audi Q7 will get only one engine option - a 3.0-litre TDI mill in the 45 TDI variant. The engine produces a power of 245 HP and 600 Nm of peak torque between 1500 to 3000 rpm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox, while the power is sent to all the four wheels via Audi’s Quattro AWD system. 0-100 kmph figures are achieved in 7.1 seconds, a healthy 10% increase in acceleration.

The Audi Q7 will rival the luxury SUVs like the new Volvo XC90, BMW X5, and Land Rover Discovery.
