MUMBAI: Four years in the industry as an actor (since “Ladies vs. Ricky Behl” / 2011) and the only complaint some fans had was that she could do with some serious weight loss in a field where contemporaries were surging ahead. Parineeti Chopra, the second member of the Chopra (as in Priyanka Chopra) clan, decided to do it!
With focused dedication, Chopra lost oodles of weight and acquired a va-va-voom figure. Not since Urmila Matondkar in the 1995 “Rangeela” had we seen such magical transformation — and this time it was not for any film or role — or besotted filmmaker!
After almost reaching there, Chopra decided to get a glam photo shoot (backed by Yash Raj Films’ — her mentor banner — Talent department) and blitzed on Twitter and the right dailies about her new "Built That Way" campaign.
Chopra has called herself “chubby and childish” four years earlier, and now she says that what she wants to be is confident. She shed her inhibitions because of her photo shoot and feels that anyone can take up such a challenge and overcome their problems.
“I used to be obese,” says the actress, who loved gorging on food during the shoot and promotions of her film “Daawat-e-Ishq” that revolved around food. “I have worked really hard to change my shapeless body into a shapely one. I am sure my new look should inspire girls who believe that they can never knock off that extra flab. You just have to really push it,” she told a Mumbai tabloid.
The actress’ big secret is Kalaripayattu, the ancient form of martial arts that originated in Kerala and is being increasingly discovered by Hindi cinema. She has figured out her own preferences and says that it is not about becoming slimmer or thinner but also fitter. As of now, she intends to complete the process. She admits that while gyms bore her, the method she has adopted may not suit all those who want to lose flab.
The same thing applies also to her diet. “I do not starve myself and do not eat anything after 8 p.m., and I even cheat with fattening stuff but balance it out,” she declared.
Circumstances helped her out, she feels. The right kind of films did not come along, so she rested, worked out, and did up her new apartment. And now the actress is ready to come up with announcements.
Will “Sultan” be the first?
